Stock Twins

Anyone know or have a pdf file on Stock Twin rebuild that show the unit in close detail.
I'm trying got see/track down where I may be having a leak in the secondary turbo housing. The FSM does not cut it.

Thanks,

The stock turbos can only leak oil from two places:

1. Compressor carbon face seal
2. Turbine piston ring seal

Let me know if you have any specific questions about either of them.

I am getting drip from the secondary turbo. Obviously the oil collects at the lowest point and i have suspected the feed banjo bolts on each side of the turbos and have tighten them both.

However the leak continues from the secondary turbo and collects the lowest point being the compressor housing.

I would like a close up of the diagram in order to determine where else the turbos are receiving oil to the unit to give a tightening once over.

BTW---almost all of the heat shield has been removed for easy of access including the down pipe-----giving me access to the banjo bolts.

Thanks Guys

Try changing the washers on the banjo bolts. Maybe that'll help. My power steering line was leaking, and doing that didn't fix it, but it did help it a lot. I did end up having to replace the line, though.

Michael, I recommend that you remove the compressor inlet adaptor and see if the compressor wheel/inside of the housing has wet oil.

Do you see burning oil from your exhaust?

The oil drain has a gasket that is prone to leaking too. It shouldn't be difficult to see where it's leaking from.

Kevin----Do you see burning oil from your exhaust? right on the money !!!! under hard driving condition the FD will give off smoke @ idle but not all the time.

I have checked the compressor inlet and thank god the wheel is clean of oil, I am going to continue the examination from the top side by removing the y pipe assembly.

stay tuned...

thank you

when you can pin point the problem, you can have the set of twins that are sitting in my garage. i have no use for them and they've suffered the same symptoms you're having. i ended up buying a used set of twins
