stock tailight to 99 spec convesion?

Does anyone every convert their stock tailights to 99spec? I mean with like a cover on the inside of the light.
I havent looked into it, but i was thinking of making them just like 99 specs with a piece of cut and molded fiberglass painted black.

Has anyone ever tried it??

yea, i saw that and got the idea. I was thinking of using fiberglass and resin, letting it harden and painting it black and fitting it in place.

If it lookes good i would definatley think about selling them, but for really cheap, just over the cost (which wouldnt be much)

I'm kinda lucky in that I have the later change, ie circles, already raised. I just need to disassemble the lights and paint around the circles to get the circles to stand out! I guess Mazda changed their molds and rather than making 2 different runs they just opted for the newer, better looking, design! Of course my car didn't come like that--they were broken at some point in its life and were replaced!

I was looking at the tailights thinking this could be done, that's a cool link. You think they could be heated in the oven instead of the heat gun? Would save some bucks and also allow you to heat them to the desired temp so they don't melt. Someone with a sticker machine should sell precut masks for this-peel and stick, spray your paint and ur done.

I wouldnt recomend putting them in the oven, not a good idea.
I have converted many sets over here in NZ, do a damn good job too but would never stick them in an oven!!!

You should try doing rotor ones or late model Mazda "wings"............ they look really cool!

this is my old 7 with rotor tail lights, sorry about the crappy pic
