Stock Radio - AM works but FM does not?
This is a stock non-bose FD radio I'm dealing with and here is my question:
The antenna mast goes up and down and appears to function like it should. The radio even picks up AM stations, but you have to turn up the volume full blast to barely hear the FM radio. I checked everything I could think of...fuzes, continuities...
The radio worked fine before the plastic teeth in the antenna mast broke. After the mast was replaced all of a sudden now I can't get FM stations at all. Any ideas?

Yeah. I thought that was the problem at first. I checked it though and the electrical harness that powers the antenna motor and the black cable that feeds the audio signal are plugged in (nice and tight) at the retractable antenna. I also checked up in the passenger footwell to make sure the two black cables were not loose there as well.
I don't think it's anything complicated because the radio was working just fine before the retractable antenna started acting up (not going up and down like it should). I replaced just the antenna and it goes up and down fine now, but now I have to turn the volume up full blast to barely (and I mean BARELY) here the FM stations.

try this little trick.
take and old antenna cable, plug in to the back of your headunit, and cut off a length of insulation and expose the wires, then simply ground that wire to the chassis, and your whole car is a massive antenna.
this worked for me, my buddy showed me this on my FB with JVC headunit and it worked much better than any antenna. plus i was able to shave the annoying 4' antenna.... i dont like the whole CB radio look.
if anything i think the headunit is also on it way out
