For the sake of accuracy, I don't believe the above statement is true in regard to the stock airbox. I have read (not from PFS) that the PFS SMIC would work with the stock airbox. After studying a picture though, I can't see how it would. Now I only hope it will fit with my rx7fashion intake. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

RXROTARY2_7,

Hehheehhe, nice!!! Come on man, don't act like you've never "snapped" at someone who was trying to be a smart ***, especially when you stay up late trying to help people and this is the thanks. Shiet, you basically just snapped at me

Also, as most of us know, the forum has had some problems and a lot of peoples' posts were lost. So what you never saw were 2 more threads, one from me and I forget who the other person was, and we came back with the recommendation that he just buy another used stock IC (and possibly throw some straps on it if needed) and then save up to buy the right intercooler, especially since M2 is currently out of production.

I still stand behind the fact that the Blitz SMIC is a waste of money for anyone who plans to do future mods. If he is not going to mod the car any more, then duh, ofcourse the Blitz would be fine. But what are the chances on NO more mods? I'd venture to say it's pretty slim.

As for my experience, sorry you have taken offense to my experience. 16 (maybe 17) years of building rotaries and I shouldn't mention that to a kid that is 21 years old, especially when it's probably his first rotary??? Sorry you think that I think I'm "the almighty". You're actually quite wrong. I was just trying to make them realize that "I've been there and done that" and that I'm not some 18 year old on a computer. As long as they know that, I would not be offended at all with his decision to go with a Blitz or whatever else. Shiet, it's his car and it's America, he could put a Volvo intercooler in there for all I care.

And lastly, peace bro I'm not here to make enemies. We are all RX7 brothers, even AdamC or whoever. Debating things and standing strong behind your opinions is what the forum is here for. It's been fun. See you guys again.

ps- Click on my link below to see my website. Shows how I bought my car as a salvage due to a major engine fire, put in new factory wiring, as well as everything else under the hood.

I am interested in the initial post of the Greddy FMIC two-row?

Anyone have a Greddy FMIC installed with pics? What's involved? How do you like it?

RXROTARY2_7,

Right on dude. I'm glad we've successfully debated this. So what's the next thread? Hehehehehe.

Man, I also just looked at your profile and I see you've had several RX's; that's awesome. Even though this is my first turbo, I've owned every gen, even an RX-3 Wagon (or was it and RX-2 Wagon?)...so long ago I can't remember. But I'm glad you too have been a long time enthusiast- that's one of the things makes the forum great.

When I run in to some turbo-related questions, I'll be hitting you up. Don't forget to check out my site, it has some pretty cool picks of my baby.

If you are going to replace the intercooler with an aftermarket one, now is the time. I have heard good things about the Blitz SMIC. It fits with everything. I ordered one last week. Tough to find a used one. You can get a new one for around $850.

I think all of the others require moving the battery, the stock air box or both.

what the hell was that AdamC? lmao!!

Tom, actualy that was my garage as of about 2 months ago. i did not list all of my rotary vehicles from the past as that would take up a lot of space. TII was totaled... sold the rx2 last week. and the gxl is gone as well. basicly just have the r100 and the 93 left and TONS of random parts. (life gets in the way sometimes)

you had an rx3 wagon.
hope i would be able to help if you do have any questions, but there are many others on here that have much knowledge...

No one has mentioned the GReddy SMIC. It is roughly 2-3 times the internal volume of the stock IC and installs with stock battery and airbox. It is highly polished and is a good compormise between the stock and the larger ICs which require moving the battery, air box or buying extra ductwork.

I think the Greddy is a very good unit. However it does require some modifications to the car to get it to fit. I would like to keep my stock air intake.

Looks like the Forum ate my post

My flanges started to bend from 12-13psi spikes so I put the RB intercooler straps on. Held for the last 2 years with no problems. Looks like the price on them went up but it's still a good deal if you don't want to shell out all the $$$.

Bigger is better I suppose but I don't get a chance to get on the car hard enough to matter. I can only drive sideways 1-2 a week before getting pulled over

If you race then it matters. Hell I wouldn't mind the extra hp but I always find something else to spend $1k on.

PS Racing Beat is a great company and I would buy directly from them. Mazda thinks enough of them to have them tweak the production MazdaSpeed Protege.

AMEN brother! Racing Beat is the best! When I got back into the rotary scene recently, I got a rude awakening about how lousy some of the aftermarket companies are these days. I have to imagine that most are just running out of a garage, with a nice web page, but no stock. Even when they say they have stock, somehow it just doesn't get shipped. I've had more RX-7 parts orders screwed up in the last couple months, than probably the rest of my life. I'm just SOOOOO happy when I can get something from a trustworthy company like Racing Beat, or Summit Racing (where I bought my Fluidyne radiator). If they don't have it, it's buyer beware all the way.

Cheers,
