Stock Headunit display bulb out
Hey Guys,
I have a 93 R1 and the LCD display nolonger lights up on the Stock radio. I like this radio. Tripoint said they can fix it for around 100 bucks which is pointless since I could get a better radio. But I dont want to. I want to keep the interior stock. So Have you guys have this problem? Is it fixable? I trid a search under "stock radio headunit" and didt find this problem here. Thanks for your help.

it should be a trivial job for someone who knows electronics and soldering. I have no idea what kind of light's in there but I can't imagine it'd being difficult to replace. do you have any friends who would know electronics?

Hope this doesn't side-track your thread, but I have a similar problem and posted this a few months back without too much success. I share your desire to keep the stock look, but with me it looks like the smart money will be on a decent aftermarket unit, possibly Nakamichi. FWIW, all the audio shops I took my car to said they'd have to take it out and send it in. As I recall, there was a minimum of about $75 just to look at it. Apparently none of them did REPAIR work, just installation. Good luck with yours.
