You really don't need to upgrade the fuel pump until you start looking into larger injectors. Even then some people still run the stock pump depending on their needs.

also, if you are on the bottle (Nitrous Oxide system) u will probably want an upgraded fuel pump because people usually dont know how big of a N20 shot to use and they wont have enough fuel to compensate for their foolishnes. However i see that you are not, so disregard that statement =)

I have seen a guy pulled out 450Hp out of a mazda 323 GTR engine (1.8 DOHC with huge BB turbo standard) and he was using the FD fuel pump, how can that be possible if the FD runs out of fuel at less than 400Hp?

Piston engine's use less fuel to make the same HP. Fuel pressure is higher in FD's...

No, you don't need to upgrade the fuel pump until you want to upgrade some other part of the fuel system (injectors, higher fuel pressure, etc.) I have tested this and the stock pump maintained fuel pressure on my car at 15psi of boost (hitting 100% injector duty) and stock pressures. When I tried to raise the fuel pressure by 5-10psi the pump would have problems.
