Stock Fuel Pressure Regulator leaking fuel from vacuum nipple?

Anyone well versed with Fuel Pressure Regulators?

I have a stock FPR. When I test my fuel system for leaks, I get fuel leaking out of the nipple on the FPR. This is the nipple for the vacuum line that would route from the FPR, through the FPR solenoid, and into the lower intake manifold.

This is bad, right? What would cause this? A bad diaphragm in the FPR? Does this make sense? Let me know if you need pics.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, the FPR diaphragm is leaking. This is also a known problem on a few Miatas. The FPR should be replaced. (While you are in there, make sure the Fuel Pulsation Dampener is not leaking!)

yep, ripped internal diaphragm. it may still work and run but will cause random flooding issues.

Thanks. In the midst of this, I did the fuel pulsation dampener delete via the write up on Banzai Racing's site.

This might explain a random flooding that I had. I was worried that I somehow damaged it while removing my fuel rail. However, I never even separated the FPR from the secondary fuel rail so I was skeptical that my light manhandling caused damage to the FPR. Sounds like I was driving with an already failing and leaking FPR.
