i wasnt telling him to go out to his car and wheel hop down the driveway, i was simply stating that at even at a moderate RPM it should be possible to break the tires loose even for just a second. I know all about the damages wheelhop can cause, I've had to replace axels, differentials, hubs, and even a toe link because of it

I know you weren't telling him that - but roland88 was talking about full throttle off the line acceleration, and I wanted to make sure he understood what could happen if he got wheel hop. The questions he has been asking made me think that he might not realize the problems it could cause. Better to be excessively warned, than do it and regret it later.

RotorDream, that's probably your problem. Those tires aren't very sticky, and are not comparable to the top tier tires. The Kumho MX offers great grip at a decent price......

Thanks guys appreciate the comments. I have no intention of going out and breaking something - it was more of an ambiguous "what if" scenerio so I could judge how "normal" my car was.

As someone stated earlier, a lot of us want to know if our cars are operating correctly.

My overly cautious wheel-hop warning was triggered by the first quote. Glad to see the second one.

You also should get a good boost gauge. If your attitude about modifying your FD consists of buying cheap parts off ebay, you'll eventually learn a very expensive lesson in my opinion.

Opinion noted - thanks. The cheap guage was really just for a quick one off test. I've not modded anything on th car in 14 years other than an Apexi Super Grounding Kit. If I were to mount a guage, it would be the best!

i got an ebay universal boost, a/f, water temp gauges with a pillar to fit them(80$). nothing fit worth ****, gauges didnt even fit correctly in the pods. a little fileing and a great deal of molding(fiberglassed it to the stock a-pillar) and it came out better than any factory setup i've seen. gauges are all working to the "t" also...so if you have a little ingenuity and 2-3 hours to kill. you can save youself some major $ when all is said and done.

but in essense you are correct, alot of things put on ebay are not worth the money. i kind of experemented and got lucky.

I used to have a reoccurring dream and wake up in a sweat that I was driving my 7 and it just would not accelerate. Never happened in really life, but it scared me enough to mod and mod. Stock I used to drop the clutch at 4-5k on some autocross starts. On street anything like that would normally put the car sideways

Best way to keep it now with the way police treat sports cars these days.
