stock ecu doesnt have a part #/version label

I have a stock ecu with no labeling on the outside. Is there any way to tell from labeling on the circuit boards inside what part # and version the ecu is?

Havent gotten any input on this issue. Someone out there should know a way to derive which ecu is inside the box.

Thumbs up

Hey Chuck, long time no see. Here are some photos of my stock ECU's insides... my car is a 1994 5-speed originally sold in California. I believe the stock ECUs are different for A/T cars and also for M/T cars that were sold in the other 49 states... there may be differences in the calibration or components for different model years too.

My guess is that the sticker with the label 079753-2291 has something to do with the particular calibration that makes that ECU different than the 49-state models and/or automatic transmission models. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that auto-trans ECUs may have additional components installed in some of the spots that are left empty on the manual trans ECU's. Taking the case apart wasn't too difficult, just a few philips screws... it would be nice to see the insides of a 1993 model, auto-trans model, and/or 49-state model to get a feel for the similarities and differences.

I will put some pics together and post them. I did get the problems resolved though. There are 2 identical connectors on the components mounted on the back of the ECU (tranny module and a EL module) - got them reversed!

Good hearing from you Scotty!
