I did stock BOV mod.

I like the sound it makes and I can be sure my turbos working.

But it's keeping blows off air when 1/2 throttle.

IS it normal?

I have the apexi one and it does the same thing...Does yours not blow at wot? mine blows between shifts at little throttle and wot. anything in the middle it is blowing the whole time. I wish someone else would have answered because I was wondering if something was wrong too. I actually think it is fine because my car seems to be ridiculously fast so I'm not worried. Do you happen to have a power fc or apexi avc-r? My bov used to just blow between shifts before I had mine. How much boost do you run?

 

throttle percentage has nothing to do with a blow off valve blowing. (:p ). its all about the boost. you could be at full throttle, in 5th gear for example going 10 mph....the bov wont blow because you are not spinnin boost.

 

A blow off valve is used to release excess boost as to not have it cause damage. It blows between shifts because as the throtle closes between shifts (letting off the gas)the pressure has nowhere to go and would slam back against the turbos and but a lot of stress on things like the intercooler and pipes. The valve releases this pressure.It blows at lower RPM and partial throtle because the motor is not using the boost that the turbos are producing.

 

Think about it...if you're at half throttle, you don't need the boost, do you?

As soon as you go WOT, it will pinch the BOV shut.
