How good is this unit?

I was thinking I should get a lo-jack.

just by insurance, buy a new one if it gets stolen, just save your recipts. its not like they are that hard to find (Try finding parts or an entire car for a 79 benz!).

Its a stick/sad world but if someone wants your car, they are gonna get it, be it tow it or hotwire it.

P.S. the best anti theft device i have seen is on a movie (i forget which one), the guy jacks up one side of the car and takes 1 of his tires with him lol

Oh yeah, great website! That is, I'm sure it would be if you remembered to post it.

It's still better than a lot of websites I've seen.

Anyone have one that comes with a pager and will page you when someone's screwing with your car? I've been thinking of getting one of those, if they work well. For some reason I've been real paranoid lately about losing the car to an evildoer.

I hope I didn't confuse people, my FD already has the unit installed, I was wondering how good it was. Otherwise I have paranoia, after spending the $$$ I did on it.

you should look into a fuel pump cut switch. or a relay that enables the ECU to function (ie you have to perform a task such as turning on your lights switch for the ECU to get power). those are the best ways to deter theft.

For the moment, Houston maybe does not have the Lo Jack coverage that other cities that were first to have Lo Jack service have.

My cousin in HPD says that in any given area, you might have 2-3 cruisers equipped with a Lo Jack tracking system - and there is no guarentee that a Lo Jack cruiser will be available when you need it. The Lo Jack system is largely location sensitive too, so if your car is out of the range (for example, like you found out your car is missing after a significant time and it has since left the area), the cruisers will not be able to find it if they do not know the general area to look.

It's just a matter of time before more cruisers are equipped with the tracking system, and you are certainly well ahead almost everyone in terms of likelyhood of recovery.

Just keep the limitations of the Lo Jack system in mind, and DO NOT TELL anyone you have the system. You would be amazed how word gets out to the wrong people, and thru people you least expect to misuse the information.

Why don't you just get the clutch club, a.k.a Auto-Lock?

http://store.yahoo.com/youcansave/autolock.html

Car isn't going anywhere with that on there (short of, as mentioned above, towing).
