Stock 94 rexy. What diff oil should I use? LSD mt90? HELP PLEASE!

Hey fellas, Iīve changed my gear oil for yesterday 4 motul gear300 and it rocks!!!!

I need help finding the best oil 4 my rexy (here in arg itīs impossible to find NEO, royal Purple, etc...) so thatīs why I have 2 choose from MOTUL options.

I own a 1994 rx7 with 50000 miles on it, I know that it has LSD, but dunno what tipe. SHOULD I USE DLS DIFFERENTIAL OIL MT90????????

1)

MOTUL 90 PA LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL FLUID

Specially designed for limited slip differential and hypoid gear rear axles, this high performance mineral gear oil is perfectly suited for use in racing cars, 4 x 4's and passenger cars. If you have aftermarket clutch type LSD's (Nismo, KAAZ, Cusco, Mazda Comp. etc.) this oil is meant for your clutch type LSD. API GL5, MIL-L-2105-D, ZF TE ML.

MOTUL 90PA Limited Slip Differential Oil - 2 Litre 3181/CZ . . . . . $26.16 each

2)Motul Gear300 Gear Oil 75W90

GEAR 300 75W90 100% ESTER SYNTHETIC

Motul's highest quality 100% ESTER BASED synthetic 75W90 gearbox oil. Designed for today's high performance vehicles, and all out race cars. This lubricant is virtually unshearable. Its stability at high temperatures make it ideal for extreme conditions. Many endurance professional race teams swear by this oil. Designed for transmission gearboxes and rear axles. API GL4 and GL5/MIL-L-2105C.

GEAR 300 75W90 100% Synthetic Gear Oil - 1 Litre 3178/CZ . . . $24.11 each

Thanx 4 your help again!!!!!

let me know the best option

Alexis

You have a Torsen LSD, not a clutch type. That being said, I'm not sure the Motul stuff would actually hurt it. I seem to remember reading though that oils made for the clutch type have a higher friction coefficient, or different lubricity, or something like that and I'm not sure that's exactly what you'd want with a Torsen.

I know some people prefer Neo over Redline in their differential, but I don't think either is the cause of any real complaints. I've got Redline in mine and it works fine. So, if you can't get Neo, why not pick up some of the generally available Redline 75w-90 ?

I just re-read your post again. If it's a choice between 1 and 2, go with 2 definitely.

I agree. the gear300 looks like an excellent choice. Just don't put it in your tranny

Thanx Jconn!! I was told that the LSD Motul Oil is used by the Porsche for example.
I think that I will be ok with the gear300 on my differential

No, I'm sorry I misread that the gear300 looks fine for tranny use. It's the first one that shouldn't be used in any synchromesh tranny.

It's fine.

I was the one not reading carefully - what you wrote is perfectly clear.

Enjoy the car.
