stock ecu

Just brought home a 93 touring model. Royal purpel 10w30
- 8k on reman and tranny -Redline ATF
-Redline 75w90 diff. fluid
-ngk plugs and wires
-Air Filter
-Oil Filter
-Coolent
-Cleaned Injectors

1. My aim is to keep the car as stock as possible for now but I really need to get rid of the precat. I know how unflexible the stock ECU is so what supporting mods will I need if i just install a downpipe to replace the precat.

2. While I'm on the topic what all can I get away with without having to upgrade the ecu ie new intake, dp, mp, catback, intercooler.

3. Also My car in an auto, I'm guessing that will limit my aftermarket ecu options.

4. (The ATF fluid was Redline Dexcron II, I know Dexcron is a GM thing but it as far as i know it should be compatable with the rx7 auto tranny. Shouldn't it?)

I have an auto! look at my mods on stock ecu. keep it at 10 psi and you can run all the bolt on upgrades. Remember '' 10 PSI MAX ''.

Do you just use a boost controller.

Your boost is very unlikely to go up by simply installing a downpipe. The stock cat, muffler, and intake leave plenty of restriction.

The thing to use is a boost gauge, so that you will know if it goes up as a result of the mod. Or down, if there is a problem.
