Sticking EGR valve symptoms?

I'm wondering if any of you ever had an EGR valve that was stuck open? If so, what are the symptoms? I have a high idle problem, which I think is a leaking LIM gasket, but I also have a check engine light because of EGR valve (code 16). Could the high idle be caused by the EGR? I know that on other cars I've dealt with (they had piston engines), a sticking EGR valve would cause low idle / stalling and very poor low speed operation.

Thanks,

Paul

Well one sure fire way to remedy this is just to eliminate the EGR valve all together. I did it and it gives a nice smooth boost creep. If that doesnt chage anything then I guess that the EGR isnt your problem . Just take of the hose and cap the exposed ends it doesnt hurt anything to try I've had this mod for at least six months.
Good luck
