Starter?

Hey I have 92 jdm FD and I think my starter is bad so are there any differances between USDM and JDM starters? Also where is a good place to buy then for a reasonable price. I live in bc Canada

You can just replace the brushes in them, they literally only cost a few dollars and will make your starter like new..
The brushes are about the only wear item in a starter motor, and are very easy to change. I seem to remember they make be known as the starter yoke brushes or something...(I did mine some months back).
The starters are basically the same as any other car, you will have no trouble finding a walkthrough/video on how to do it.
its the same deal as an angle grinder..the brushes wear out so you change them..

Incase your interested - my symptoms were; my car would only sometimes turn over, and when it did, it would only turn over very slowly (even after I got a new battery). It would sometimes not turn at all and just click once; as the starter didnt have enough grunt to turn the engine over. If i kept trying it would usually turn over after a few tries.

anyway its like new now, costs less then $15 and about half an hour of your time.

It might just be very dirty, and needs to be taken apart, cleaned, and lubed.
Do not assume the worst. I have over 128k on my starter and it was a dayly driver from 1992 to 2003.

They are called "brushes" not bushes =)
I just got them from my local mazda dealer - I think they are called the starter yoke brushes.

And yep it may just be dirty, I origionally took mine apart and cleaned the crap out of it with brake clean and it worked perfectly for another couple of months before it started doing it again and i changed out the brushes. If you open it up, no doubt you will see one of them is worn down more than the rest
