Talking Started her up!!!

Hello everyone! I just started the Pettit Rebuild with 3mm seals and streetport I've been sitting on for about 2 month's. Started just fine, no problems, no leaks, fans working correctly, all's well. Except for one little problem. My reverse doesn't work?? I thought it could be becuase I might have too much fluid in the transmission (amateur guess). When I was filling it up, I used a $2 pump from advance auto, and i could stick my finger in and it would be wet with fluid all around my finger not just the bottom where it's supposed to be, so I figure I had too much fluid. It wasn't pouring out so I was like what the hell, just put the fill plug in and it's done. This is my only problem so far. Can someone help me with this.

Thanks

Jack

oh and it will go into 5th just fine, which leads me to believe it isn't the synchro since both 5th and reverse run off the same synchro. What gives?
