this may have been asked before if so shoot me down.what is the longest you have left your fd without starting it.after afew financial problems i threw a new battery on my rex today and it started for the first time of asking in eight months.but there seems to be loads of rust forming on the brakes and when i lift the bonnet there seems to be a lot of rust forming on the pulleys. i have vented bonnet so maybe this was to expected with a lot of moisture getting in there. but for it to start first time was a suprise i have heard stories of the rotary engine jamming if you do not start it every week or so......anywayback to my question how long have you left your fd without starting it.eight months is a long time.

The motor will be fine. Ideally you could have pulled the EGI fuse to disable spark and cranked it to build oil pressure after such a long period of inactivity.

As far as the rust goes, that's one reason I don't like vented hoods. I take it the car was outside without a cover on it?
