Stamped rotor housings?????

Why are rotor housings stamped?
Front and Back are different.

Front housing

the front and back housings are different because of egr or something but it doesnt matter if you arent using it they are interchangeable.

Thanx that is good to know.
I am getting a rebuild but front housing is bad.
Apex seal corner piece fell off and scratched the housing
