sr motorsports intake + airpump = which large SMIC?

Hi guys!

I've wanted to know which large SMIC i can use together with a SR Motorsports intake and the stock airpump?
Are there any options?
will the large m2 intercooler work?

Kind regards
Patrick

Dude this pic is straight from their website...

http://www.shaneracing.com/sr93intk.html

Edit- and that IC in the pic is the same size (LxH) as the M2/asp large, Pettit cool charge III, godspeed large, XS power large...

Does this mean ... yes?

I know this picture!

Sorry for this, maybe, dumb question... I'm in the FD3s game since a few weeks (but in the fc3s game since 9 years), I´bought my fd3s, drove it for 200km, took it into my garage, and then went onto a business trip -> therefore I'm not THAT fimiliar with the engine bay!

I'm currently just dumping insane amounts of money for ordering the common upgrades/maintinance items and hopefully come back home in 2 months, get 2 weeks holiday, and bolt everything onto that 13B-rew sucker

I just don't want to buy parts which will not fit

thanks for your input!!!!!!!

kind regards
Patrick

Given that the pic shows the exact items that you are asking about: Yes it fits. Note with those types of large SMIC's (M2/asp large, Pettit cool charge III, godspeed large, XS power large... ) the battery must be relocated. Also you have to have a duct for the IC otherwise it's worthless.

He's asking about a SMIC that accommodates the air-pump. The picture above does not show such a set-up.

good catch... I just focused on the CAI and SMIC combo

Patrick,

The air pump is going to get in the way of your hot IC pipe if you connect it in a straight line with the turbos (just like in that pic). Sorry about that man...

Take a look at the PFS med IC. Notice how the the IC hotside pipe is routed in order to accommodate the air pump:

IMO if you really want to go with a large SMIC: 1) you could snake the hot side pipe just like the PFS unit, but it really seems like a tight fit and personally I be hard pressed to experiment (in other words I would'nt do it). 2) Or just ditch the air pump entirely.

Thanks for the input, but...

are you sure?

Because on the pic with the large m2 smic, you can see at the right side of the hot pipe, next to the pressure cap of the filler neck, a worm type clamp which seems to hold the air-feed line onto the stock airpump?

Given that picture is from SR motorsports I would ask them. Might as well get it straight from the source.

I've talked to djseven who currently sells a m2 large IC... he stated that the IC will fit the stock airpump...

I will just buy/try and report back here for future searchers... If it does'nt fit, I have to drive without the airpump and fab some piping up just for emission testing, not that big downside...

Thanks for your input, really appreciate!

The air pump fitment w/ the M2/ASP Large is dependent upon the piping that runs from the crossover to the "hot side" IC inlet. If it mates to the stock location, it should fit w/o issue. If it is required to go over the IC, I can't remember if the pipe fits w/ the air pump...

If you have a fab source for piping, you are good to go.

It will work just do a search and you will find pics of the exact fitment. I know this is a picture of a medium but the large only extends towards the battery.

what are your solutions for the ducts? I have the greddy and I am assuming what you're talking about is the piece of sheet metal that bolts on top of the cars frame right to the front of the SMIC. seemed to leave a nice gap between itself and the IC so I jury rigged it with black duct tape...oh and a cut up mangled stock black plastic piece

I designed a cast hot side IC pipe that fits better than the fanned pipes. Kevin Wyum sold them. I still have the CAD file if you guys know of a cheap low run casting house.

Are you willing to provide the CAD data?

I don't know any caster, but I've done several carbon intake pipes/plenums in my formula student time! I also have acess to a rapid prototyping machine...

PM sent!

Here is an idea, while you guys are fabricating up pipes do a run of the intake pipes for the M2 Air Box. It seems there is a fitment issue especially with the bottom pipe.
