Squeeling belts! How do I fix!
When my car is cold and I try to start it....a few seconds later I hear the loudest squeeling from my belts. All the belts seem tight......any idea's of what I can do to fix this? It's a little embarrassing starting your car up at the end of a big car show to drive away with this big *** trophy in your front seat with it making that noise! LOL
You can try belt dressing or some silicone spray, but if the outside of the belts are really shiny, you probably should change them.
As for how tight they should be, check the FSM. I think they should have like a 1/4 inch of "play".

Assuming the tension is right, there was a trick I learned a while back that seemed to work well, but YOU MUST BE VERY CAREFUL AND CAN NOT SUE ME IF YOU GET HURT DOING THIS. With the engine running, take a large wrench or screwdriver and just use the metal to gently rub the inside of the belt as it's running, which should remove the squeal. It seems to remove any residue or whatever it might be causing the noise, and then use some belt dressing (which should consist mostly of silicone) to keep it from sqealing again.
Again, be very very careful whenever dealing with moving belts! Use eye protection at the very least!

If you get coolant onto the belts (while topping the coolant up). The chemical can cause the belts to squeak. Doesn't do any damage just a reaction.
I adjusted the tension a little on mine. And used some silicon spray as well. That worked for me.
Like Allenhah I have also heard of people using some sand paper to roughen up the surface of the belt while the engine is running, but be careful!

That sounds like what happened....I had just had a coolant line split on me and I bet some got on the belts.....I have tried adjusting the belt which works for a little while and starts acting up again.....I will try the dangerous trick and won't sue anybody!

I tried using both the sand paper and the metal tool....and it did not fix it.....I held on the belt for about 30 seconds. It only squeels when the car is cold! Once the car is warmed up it was do at all.....even when restarting the car. Any other idea's?
