hey guys...i have an 93 touring and i just got tein ha coilovers and dropped the car an inch and a half....neway, there's so many sqeeks and rattles in the rear ever since....the car is very punishing ride....i just picked up my girl at the airport and she told me it was the worst ride she ever drove in...she has an s2k....all that stuff is normal on an fd right? i just wish it just wasn't so loud and hard everytime i hit a bump...any siggestions? shouldi raise it a bit?

 

you probably need new bushings and toe and trailing if it has high milage...a stiffer suspension will accentuate that problem tremendously. been there.

where can i find bushings, toelinks and trailing arms for cheap? should i go stock or are there aftermarket ones that are better but not too much diff in price? any usefull links?

 

The bushings can be done at Mazdatrix. Toe link & trail arms from M2, Pettit, Rotary Extreme and I will be making some out of titanium in the future. You can turn the dampers to the lowest setting, add helper springs (assuming you don't loose travel when lowering) or get softer springs. I will be changing to 8/5's.

 

thanks rob, ill give you a ring tom to get more info but how much will i be looking at for all this...i don't know about helper springs thouugh...just want to do what's necessary to stop those sqeeks and rattles. I am 99.5% sure it's the bushings

I've noticed that the trim piece that attaches to the hatch itself may squeek. I haven't isolated the problem yet, but will let you all know when I do. Also, if your shocks for the hatch aren't strong enough, they may be causing the hatch to bounce a bit. That's what's happening to me, and has been since I did my coil overs.

 

Ah squeaks and rattles in the rear. Just the way I like my women!
The coilovers themself, make some noise, mine do the same thing. Also try adjusting the latch for the rear hatch, this is a common problem.
Bushings and other pieces are a good bet as well, but are expensive and are much harder to check.
A FD makes all kind of noises in itself as it is, it is a lightweight "pure" sports car, that is going on twelve years old now.

 

Did you get the pillow ball upper mounts, od did you keep the stock ones. The spring rubbing on the rubber upper mount can make alot of noise.
