squeaky pulley, I can't figure out which one
squeaky pulley, I can't figure out which one
Yet another problem I have found, is that on cold starts, there is a squeak that sounds rotational, and I am nearly 100% sure its one of the numerous pulleys that is affixed in the front. I just cant figure out which one it is, and dont really feel like going gung-ho with a can of WD-40 and start sprayin' every pulley, neither taking the belts off and all the pulleys and lubing them. NE one have suggestions on a good way to figure out which one it is? Is it okay to rotate the whole system with the motor off, and see if I can hear for which one it is? then from there, try to lube that pulley somehow? Or should I just get new pullies, and replace that stuff altogether.
Oddly enough, this problem seems to go away when the car is warm, as does a lot of other probs.

I had the same problem as well. It turned out to be my power steering pump. You can verify this by when the car is running, carefully put your ear near the power steering pump and listen.
Hope this helps

I did notice that the as I turn the wheel, the squeal doesn't get louder, but slows down. The idle gets all rough and low when I'm sitting there with the car not moving, and turn the wheel back and forth. Why is it doing this? normal? NE ways, I still cant figure out which one it is. Where is the power steering pump, and what does it look like?
Replacing the pulley's probably wont do a thing for you cause the pulley's probably fine, It's most likely whatever is driven by the pulley. or a loose belt.
You could check the tension, or look at the belts and see if one of the belts is shineyer (thats got to be spelled wrong) than the other one, they often get that way if they slip. Also they sell stuff called belt dressing, might quite it down or help you figure which belt the problem is with.

I say look at your tension then if its all set right wait till the nest day and have someone physically stand infront of your engine w/ the hood up, stick their head near it and listen for the H20 pump pully to squeek or maybe the P/S pump. If that does not work keep trying untill you figure it out... it can't be that hard... j/k

Yes, dropping idle while giving steering wheel input is normal. Be aware that you are heating up your power steering fluid excessively if you do this for more than 45 seconds straight, so sayeth the manual.
Power steering is top right pulley as you are looking at the engine. there is a nice pipe leading out the top of the pump, and it has a whitish plastic resevior on the backside. There will also be a black cap in the resevior top where you can check the P/S fluid. That help?
