Squeaky Noise Related to Clutch Engagement?
Hello everyone -
Background: There is a loud squeaking noise coming from the engine bay when I first start the car. (the squeaking eventually goes away after the car is warmed up) I believe its coming from the belts or one of the components driven by the belts, but plan to investigate more this weekend.
Question: The squeaking sound completely goes away when I engage the clutch. When I disengage the clutch, the sound comes back. I'm wondering if this symptom can point me in the correct direction. For example, is the air pump effected by engagement of the clutch? Water pump, etc? At this point, it seems random and unrelated but I figured I'd ask if anyone thinks there is a correlation.
Hopefully that question makes sense.
Cheers,
Chris

Have a friend operate the clutch while you look under the hood. I'm hoping you don't have a lot of engine endplay, see if the front main pulley moves in or out when the clutch is engaged.
Or, see if the air pump is turning on or off or something else.
