New ACT Clutch XTSS query

Hey guys

just installed a new act xtss clutch and the biting point is very low. Other than that it appears to drive fine with no noises or issues. Is this normal until it beds in?

Do you have a stainless braided clutch line? Many clutches with heavy pressure plates will do this on a stock rubber clutch line.

The increased pressure swells the line and makes the engagement point really low.

If your car has a lot of miles you may want to replace the clutch master and slave as well. You're going to increase the hydraulic load on them and if they're old they will fail in short order.

Clutch fork might also be an issue at some point.

Thanks for the reply gents

i have braided clutch line. New master cylinder also. I may have to look at the pedal adjustment. I do have a touch of free play with in fsm spec so will further adjustment help? Maybe I'm just not used to the clutch as I was driving a twin plate before and it was quite worn so biting point was sky high

All of the above, based on my own experience with this same clutch.

Thanks once again gents.

i took a look at the pedal today and I can't adjust it anymore without completely losing all the free play. Was driving it around today and as I mentioned before I don't have issues changing gears, shifts are like butter, the clutch isn't riding and actually after putting 50km on the clutch it seems that's it's settled a bit, biting point feels better (or maybe I'm getting used to it) it's now roughly in the middle of the pedal on the floor to half way up, it's in the middle of that. Maybe it's normal and it's just me

I prefer a higher clutch engagement point. Maybe its just me.
