Spring install + before/after/and inbetween

After buying my Eibach pro kit springs for $150, used on the forum.
I went around to price how much a install was.
To my dismay, i was quoted $300-$500, which left me in disbelief.

So I decided to do it myself again. (5years ago i foolishly tried, to do it myself
with out the proper tools, one jack, hand tools and no real instructions. Needless
to say, it didn't work out and broke my back for 10hrs. 4 hours taking apart ****
and 6 hours putting it back together.. Believe me my back was HURTING.
I said **** it and sold the springs.

Fast forward to today. I borrowed a aircompressor from a friend, and borrowed
a 1/2inch air gun with sockets and a nifty manual spring compressor, hydrolic jack
and 2 jack stands, WD40 and the whole nine yards.
Most importantly armed with step by step instructions from
www.clubrx.org i was finished in about 5 hours of taking my sweet time.

here are some Waaaay before pictures, before pictures and current.

Last two is with the new springs installed.

I litterally got finished 2 hours ago and pics taken. I assume suspension
need to settle then it will sit lower. hopefully.
I know it needs to be washed

enjoy:

$300-500 for spring installs?!

Aren't most shops like $100 or less?

In my area, it's about $150-200 depending on where you go. I would imagine in DC most things are more than in the Midwest.

Yup, it's a 2-3 hour job and assuming labor is around $75/hr the total cost will be around $150-$225.

Glad the instructions on ClubRX helped you out! It's not impossible to do with hand tools, but air tools save a LOT of time. I did a ton of FC springs with just hand tools.

I can do springs on an FD in probably 1.5-2 hours, btw .

Good work, it's always rewarding to learn to do something yourself and save a bundle. Now take all that money you saved and invest it in your own tools so you'll be properly prepared for the next project

I just did my FD suspension last night for the first time too, though I've done other cars many times in the past. I was pleasantly surprised how relatively easy eveything comes out for being double wishbone, the rears especially. I'm so used to mcpherson struts, which are cake :P
