Question Spit up a little oil after hard driving

So, I was at Gingerman Raceway this weekend and the car ran beautifuly! But I had a small issue that I don' t have an answer for. After what turned out to be my last run, the car had sat for about an hour or so and I noticed that there was a nice little puddle of oil on the ground. Sprayed partially on the fender lining on the driver's side and underneath about half way back on the under carrage on the driver's side as well. It looked as though it started somewhere up high, like just underneath the intake pipe/throttle body. I popped that pipe off to get a better look at the oil filter, diptick and anything else that I could get my hands on. I didn't have a clue to where the hell it coulda come from. I took it out on the streets and did a couple of quick hard drives and didn't see any more leaking other than the residual oil from the last blast. Pressure was good, though it seemed that it had gone up a bit (80 psi at 3K, 60 at 2k) which was higher than it normally ran. I don't have a oil temp gauge so I don't have a clue what that was. I hit maybe 200 water temp, but never over and, of course, let it properly cool down before shutting off. Any theories? BTW, oil level was still good. Maybe went down about a quarter inch on the dip.

Thanks all...

Christian

You're probably fine. Crispy has a very nice write-up about this issue:

Thanks. I certainly had oil sitting in the piping, but I didn't see him mention about oil escaping anywhere. Also, it seems that my pressure is becoming erratic. After the original post, I went to the store for something and noticed that I was hitting about 80 psi at 2k. 120 at 4k. After the errand, 60 at about 3k, right where it used to be. Could I have a restriction somewhere? Gauge freaking out?

haha, I thought it was the oil catch can issue! under hard cornering the oil likes to go flying

Hope you get that gauge thing taken care of man, and it was nice meeting you. Hopefully next time I'll be up there with the 7.
