Recently stumbled upon a set of Spirit R wheels in fairly great condition (that I can see from the pics) that a friend is selling. Does anyone have experience on the current value that these wheels are going for? How much would the value be affected if there was minor curb rash? Any insight appreciated
Just from looking at the Japanese market, Spirit R parts seem to still be selling at a premium right now. Wasn't sure if this was still the case in the US/CAN

I noticed a drop in value for Spirit R parts in Japan other than Recaros. Sun faded and torn seats now sell for $3500/pair in Japan.
I'd say $1500 is about right for good wheels. Absolutely mint would see $2000.
Price isn't set in stone but I believe 1500. Also not sure on the condition, so theres that. From the pics, theres no curb rash but the centre of the wheels near the caps looks marked up on a few

17" 255 wide tyres run wider than 18"s, which if you want to race in a tyre limited class is a good thing, 255 40 R17 is also considerably cheaper than 255 35 R18. Also 255 35 R18 does not meet the OEM load rating if your area's road laws say you can't reduce the load rating from the OEM option.
255 50 R16 has a load rating of 92, whereas 255 35 18 has a load rating of 90, and 255 40 17 has a load rating of 94 with options of 98 available. I know what I feel safer doing
The problem with RG-R's is that the black Mazda OEM centre caps don't fit and they look like ***** on the car compared to genuine Spirit R Type A wheels.

I agree. I looked through the size, offsets, and color and there is a reason why the oem wheels are that price. You can't get near the size and the spirit r wheels look awesome. Not everyone wants 18's. I'm looking to spend the money on spirit r wheels. I love the authentic look.
Sakebomb Garage is making very nice wheels that are replicas of the Spirit R's but in wider widths/better offset. I think they are still 17" as well. May want to look into that too.
