Spirit R name plate
Last night I was watching an auction for Spirit R name plate for #30 of 1500. I didnt think it would go very high, but it ended up around $530 (43,500 円) for the name plate.

From what I have heard, at auction they usually go for around that much. 1k is around the price for people who buy them from the people who get them from the auctions. #30 is pretty awesome though. For #30, I'm surprised it was sold for so low but that plate does look pretty banged up. 87GTR if you can pick stuff up for me and ship it over stateside I'd be willing to pick some stuff up from you providing the markup isn't outrageous. I was hoping to make some friends in the far east forum so I could do this.
I honestly think $300 would be a fair price for them but I can see how they would go for so much. They are the rarest Spirit R piece. Mazda doesn't make any more of them. Everything else on that car can pretty much be bought new. The problem for the sellers is that there aren't many potential buyers for the piece.

I don't understand the appeal of this... unless your car were actually the 30th Spirit R produced, it seems stupid to mount the little plate
I think it's cool to build a replica and all, but I don't think it's right to try to pass it off as a specific genuine car
Maybe I misunderstand

I don't see why for 300$ you can't have an engraving place make one for you?
That would be what I would want if I decide to go the full replica route. Have the shop engrave it as Serial # 15XX/1500 or 1501/1500 since it's a replica.
Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

One of the reasons I bought the plate was to possibly build a replica of it to haha. I thought about the 1501 thing as well. Its also been suggested by others. I've gone so far with my car getting genuine parts though (even the ABS that hasn't been installed) I figure I might as well go all the way.

Most Spirit R plates don't match the number off the Spirit R line.
ie: Plate #456 is on Spirit R #462. Plate #549 is on Spirit R #544.
Seems a guy was given a batch of plates and was told to rivet them on those cars over there.
