Speedometer and tachometer stopped working
Hi mates!!!
Recently my speedometer and tachometer stop working while I was driving back home. As you can imagine, car is running perfectly but I would love to get this back to work.
Good to mention that odometer was already failing before this.
Any idea about what can be the problem? As far as I've read, looks like power of tachometer comes from speedometer, so a failure on voltage regulator in this element may cause the failure of both.
In the other hand, and since solving the odometer issue can be really complex, I create my own odometer using an Arduino board and a small GPS. Works quite good if you don't mind to loose very few meters of your ride because of GPS time needed to fix the position. My question here is, can I just remove the LCD original board, create a 3D part to allocate new Arduino OLED screen and replace them? Or this will cause another issue?
I'm also trying to make the speedometer work with a new stepper motor also controlled by Arduino, but for this it would be great to get the VSS signal into Arduino to get an acurate reading instead of GPS. Does someone know how this signal looks like? I need to adapt it to make Arduino able to handle it (probably is a sinusoidal signal with frequency variation depending on speed).
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Best regards.
