Speedo questions
Q1: Does the FD use an electonic Speedo.. IE not driven by a cable? Can't find the info in the shop manual, and I can't really tell looking under the dash for a cable.
Q2: If it is an electonic system, will the sender unit bold onto a Turbo2 tranny? (I would imagine so, but if any of you have the info on hand, I'd like to know before I jack up the FD, find it, pull it off, go over to my T2REPU and see if it fits.

A1: Yes, the FD uses an electronic vehicle speed sender (VSS) on the transmission to drive the speedometer. The VSS outputs 8 pulses per driven gear rotation, if I remember correctly, and the speedometer is calibrated to 8,202 ppm @ 60 mph.
A2: I doubt it, but anything is possible. However, even if the sender does bolt on, you still have to have a drive gear in the transmission that meshes with the driven gear of the VSS, and then you'd have to ensure that the VSS signal was calibrated properly for your speedometer using a device like Dakota Digital's SGI-5, or recalibrate your speedometer to match, unless you were using an FD speedometer.

Garfinkle said he does know about the second gen BUT the first gen speedo gear and the 3rd gen gear are pitched in differend directions and will not innerchange. Second gen ???. He has made gears for 3rd gens .
