Speedo drops to zero at highway speed

I've searched the forum but haven't found a similar issue, so I'm hoping someone here can help.

Background:
  • Car sat in garage for 2 years due to low compression
  • Recently completed a full engine rebuild
When I reach around 80mph, the speedometer quickly drops to zero over a few seconds. However, my Haltech laptop datalog shows the vehicle speed is correctly recorded at all times, so I believe this is isolated to the gauge cluster. I suspect some electrical connection may have corroded during the long period of inactivity. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and fixed it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
