Speedmachine's FD in F&F:3?
Hey everyone,
Well, normally I stay in the second gen section because... well that's what I own but I was watching a preview for F&F:3 and I thought I saw Speedmachine's FD in there. Can anyone confirm / deny this?
Later 3rd Geners,

The main FD in the movie was not built by SpeedMachine - all the movie cars were built by the production company for the movie. I saw the "hero" cars in person at Drift Atlanta a few weekends back and talked to the guy about them.
The interesting this is all the FD's used in the movie were real JDM right hand drive cars. It's good to know they didn't trash any US cars to make a shitty movie .
BTW, I know Dave Gibson of SpeedMachine personally and was at his shop a few months back - if he was involved in any way, I would have heard.

Ya they are RHD because FF3 takes place in japan....having a US model would be stupid. They did use US model in first FF though. If anyone is from california...go to Universal studios theme park and take the tour. At one point towards the end you can see through a gate where vince diesels fd and the gold supra are just sitting there. I have gone twice a year and everytime they are there. I dont know if they are the actual cars or replicas that were used for stunt work or photoshots but its kind of a shame that its not put to a use. I would love to take it off their hands.

The movie was actually shot in the US and not in Japan......Japan is way to busy to close down the streets to shoot the movie

Yeah, that one was built by a Japanese company. They listed it for sale, and wanted 150k for it or something, but Universal got it for 50k. They did say that it 'only' put down 305, but that was after tons of abuse. The setup it had was capable of making quite a bit more power than that.
The movie was shot in L.A./CA. The opening shots were done in Tokyo.

that's the magic of hollywood!!
but don't you think that the sequel is getting worst and worst?

Ya i know that it was filmed in LA because its hollywood....I never said it was shot in japan I said it takes place in japan so it would be stupid to have US version. Well for the universal studios thing I've seen the skyline parked for show but they dont switch the cars. The skyline never moves and is shown to public but the rx7 is left in some closed off hidden parking lot full of dirt. It doesn't move even if its the clone that doesn't even drive with no engine or tranny I would still love to have it instead of it parked there. I also agree that they are getting worse, Although I was ound back then I still think the first FF was the best. Besides all the corny effects it still has best plot and best reality. so the have 1/4 mile FF, road course FF, now drifintg FF.....wait for in theaters near you 2009 Fast and Furious 4 "DUB/low rider edition"....sigh

Sorry I had to do that. Both the Falken FD's were used in the movie. The left hand drive one we built. Even the shots that have the RHD Falken FD, will have the sound from our car. The Universal sound guys LOVED the loud downpipe only FD I actually went up to their warehouse that they were building all the cars in to do a consult with their head production guy (John something...been awhile now) I looked over the rotaries that they had there, and I was kinda disappointed. The red/orange whatever color one that the Puerto Rican guy drove in the 2nd F&F movie was there. It was totally stock inside the engine bay! The car had been left outside at the Universal Studios in Orlando after the shooting of the movie and the displays or whatever, and hadn't been started for like 2-3 years! It sat through hurricanes and everything with no prep for storage or anything. Needless to say, the engine was a total loss. Rusted rotors, irons, bearings, gears...trashed. Then the guy got kinda huffy when I told him what it was going to cost to buy a new engine. He ended up going with a used JDM motor "because all it has to do is drive one of the actors into the shot. LOL Funny. They had like 4000000 350Z's that all looked the same, and a ton of the muscle cars all looking the same. They had just received the Veilside FD...which was amazing. So anyway, I got paid a bunch for my limited time with them advising them (sorta) and that's the end of that. I wouldn't wait until the absolute end of the movie to try to find my name in the credits, but I had a good time. BTW, they have DOPE food there!

My FD along with the NOS Bike that's in the movie will be displayed out front the new RAVE theatre in Huntsville, AL Friday night for the opening of the movie. Even though my FD is mostly stock, the owner of the theatre and the guy that built the NOS bike seemed to have liked it after they saw it at a carshow and called me last week to ask if I was interested. I get free tickets as well.
The acting in these movies is always terrible but who cares...it's like ****, when was the last time you watched a fast driven car movie for the acting?

even tho the movies are pretty much a joke you have to take them for what they are. The fd has been forever immortalized because of f&f1
dont believe me, ask a random girl if they know what a rx7 is and they wont ever know. Then tell them its the red car vin diesel had and they will know exactly what you are talking about.
I enjoy the movies, but i make sure im nice and drunk before i see them
