Sp Supra 7-Why?

I don't understand why anyone would put a supra motor in an rx7.

The 2JZ increases the weight and raises the center of gravity, and it destroys the whole concept of an RX-7

Gets shop recognition (published in two mag's)
To show it "can" be done (proves custom work)
Show car for events (gives shop "wow" factor)
Dyno chart shows over 860hp (I beleive), more than the their Skyline GTR.

...but as we know with the Supra, how much HP (power to wieght ratio)is lost with the added weight?

That is exactly why it was done. Every shop has a car they have highly modified and tuned to show off their expertise. This is what they chose to do. You know of the car and the shop, so obviously it worked.

It all come sdown to sales guys. They get recognition so that the next joe would get his work on so and so car at their shop instead of someone else, because they can show they are tough enough, strong enough, and by-golly man enough to put a supra engine into an fd . Must mean they can do everything, right?

I don't agree with what they did, but the ******'s fast though. It's a drag monster. You should see the hood for the thing. It's got a 4 inch cowl that looks like it came off an 88 IROC. Not that that matter's, as a lot of us would only be seeing it's *** end anyway.

Is it just me, or do those fenders suck?
They look like an airplane thing.. totally cuts the line of the car. And the wheels.. bad color.. But yeah, they had something to prove, and they chose this method to show their manhood.

It's probably just me...

Umm....those are RE Amemiya fenders. I think Neo Omega (or possibly someone else) considers him to be god. So that means...you just criticized God!

You are soooo screwed!

Lots of big Japanese tuners do engine swaps for the heck of it. Top Secret has swapped a RB26DETT Skyline motor into a Supra. Top Fuel converted a Del Sol into a rear wheel drive mid engine. Then there are the dozens of conversions of Skyline engines into Silvias. It's called creativity and curiousity. Hell, isn't someone in the forum shoehorning a V-8 into an FD? If they have the cash and the know how, why not? It's their car anyways, not yours.

supra power in a lightweight FD just makes awesome numbers at the drag strip.

A popular motor choice for the GT series in japan is the 3sgte (mr2 turbo) motor into the supra. The motor is lightweight and can then be pushed far back into an almost mid-enigine position (ala fd). And it can still make 500-650rwhp easy.

Why do some people act like someone fucked their mom in the *** when a tuner does an engine swap on an FD?
