Just when you think everything is running smoothly....

Remember when as a kid you used to stick a playing card on your bicycle with a clothes pin and it would kinda sound like a motorcycle?....or so you thought.

Anyway, when I get boost up I hear that sound. I heard it once before several months ago, but it got better. Now it is really loud. I still get great boost, everything is working, but it sounds bad. I've tightened everything down...except I still need to go back and check the downpipe and make sure it is torqued. Could this be an exhaust leak....or what do the turbos sound like when they're ready to go bad?

BTW....my only mods are downpipe, exhaust, boost control.

mine makes the same noise... but only when the second turbo comes on.... this has led me to believe something is cracked on the manifold to the turbo

 

I will venture out on a limb and say you'll be needing some rebuilt turbos soon.

 

what boost controler? is it the solonoid *clicking*
my avc-r used to be very loud....

 

Naw....it's just the Home Depot boost controller.

 

Mine would do that too.. turbos were fine. You can really notice it if you're driving in the right lane next to a barricade wall or something..

It's just the wastegate actuator doing its job.

 

Mine does the same thing occasionally, but hasn't done so in a while.

Good to know other people are getting it too.
