Sound of stock twins dying?
I have heard people refer to the sounds that come out of the stock twins when they are dying. What does it sound like? Are dying turbos always accompanied with oiling the intake as well?

I think most people just notice the turbos blowing/burning oil and less boost.

Manute,
my original turbos were definitely shot--after pulling the motor, when I tipped the UIM on it's side, about a quart of oil poured out! I also had lotsa oil in my M2 large endtanks. But the damn things boosted fine to 15psi until the day I pulled the motor. What issues are you having? Contact Steve, he knows a thing or two about turbos

Thanks Rich. My turbos just quit boosting properly after another trip to MSR with Eric 2 weeks ago. Went from 11-9-11 to 10-7-7. I went through the whole dang car yesterday verifying no leaks, all solenoids and actuators functional, etc.
Just pulled the main cat and poured out a couple handfulls of briquets and a wad of steel mesh. I think I located the problem

CRAP! My turbos are making really nasty noises. It sounds like the bearings maybe, I'm not sure, but I get no boost and it makes this scraping sound that sounds like metal to metal contact, they have never been rebuilt and have 88,000 miles on them. What do you guys think it is? And do you think it's possible to rebuild them still?

There has been alot of oil coming out of the intercooler hoses, etc. it goes all over the top of the intercooler and top of the air box and even shoots up to the hood. my car hasn't boosted past 7 lbs in quite some time. could by turbos be gone?
if so, how much will it cost to fix this problem..
thanks in advance

Sounds like that place has it in for you
If you need a stock CAT to maintain your SCCA class legality, let me know, as I might have access to a used one cheap.
Good luck!

As far as rebuilds go ... well, search on that topic. We've gone through that topic one too many times. Short synopsis: don't even bother, buy new.

Damon,
My wife told me you called, but I was in Arizona from 1-3-03 through 1-8-03, so I would not have been able to make it. Please keep me posted of any future MSR events, as I am hooked!
