Try a good synthetic transmission oil.

5th Gear Synchro

Yes, you can try changing the tranny oil but most likely you have the infamous "5th Gear Synchro" problem.

This is very common. I had it go on me as well. The cause it missing 3rd one too many times. Sometimes it only takes once. The 5th gear synchro is prone to breaking under these conditions. If you do a search under "5th Gear Synchro" you will get plenty of info on this problem. Basically requires that the 5th gear synchro be replaced and while you have the tranny pulled out, you might as well replace all the synchros and put in the new part which is like a spring loaded guide that helps find 3rd better. After doing this you will basically have a new transmission. Also if your clutch is worn this is a good time to replace it as well. Like I said, been there, done that. Very common problem in RX7s.

of course everyone is right, but if you cant afford a tranny rebuild now then it would probably be a good idea to learn to start double clutching 5th everytime to cut down on the grinding and help it last as long as possable. i i try to go into 5th it will either grind or not go in at all. but i can double clutch it pretty easy at the right speed/rpm. it is a good habit to get into anyway for daily driving i think. save the gripping and ripping for the track

Yup, everyone is right on the 5th gear synchro.

But if you're lucky like me, when i use my FD, its locally so i dont even see 5th gear LOL.

I think last time i used 5th gear was when i went to the track and that was like a year ago hahaha
