Sometimes I just love my car

This is a testamonial about my FD for the day. There are a few days of the year that you get in your FD and everything is perfect. Today was a perfect 65 degree day with no humidity. The FD started up and you can tell when it's going to run perfectly - hot days the exhaust is raspy and the turbos aren't very responsive. Today it just seemed to be a deep purr. I drove out of the parking lot at work and the car just felt 100% (FDs seem to have their days usually when it's cool outside that it feels like this)

Got the car out on the highway just letting the car in 4th gear and listening to the melodious sounds of the primary turbo and Apexi BOV singing to me. Only a 911 TT could sound and feel like this car. A Celica GTS started playing with me and I only needed about 3 seconds without downshifting to let him know where he is on the food chain.

Found a long twisty back road and dissected the road like a surgeon as the FD felt like a scalpel. Feeling the sequential twins operate in this car on a back road is what made me fall in love with the FD to begin with. Even with all the crap I've been through with this car, it's worth it. I now realize that if somebody doesn't buy my car...I DON'T CARE I'll just haul down to Florida with me.

Just had a good day with my FD and thought I'd share it with you guys to never forget what kind of machine the FD is..even with the headaches.

lol, the first title I ended up clicking the cursor accidentally and typing in the "post subject" line a few words - I realized it after I posted it and had to edit it.

I too have had my days...but definately the good days outweigh the bad. There are days that just looking at the smooth lines and that alone does it for me.

I drove my FD for the first time in a few weeks this morning, and I understand exactly what you are talking about! My commute is SOOOOOO much more fun when I drive the 7!

It was a beautiful morning, and my car is running great. What a way to start your day!

I have to sorta apologize to you. I was very pissed about your "I hate my car thread". My engine went out a few weeks ago and I'm breakin in my new one now. There are many things that happen to this car that are beyond our control and I was wrong to judge you. Fact is, I use my car as a daily driver and I dont have the gripes and problems that most of you do. Its been very reliable with only normal problems (Hoses, radiator fans burn out, etc) Up till the time my engine went out. On the dyno, I cracked 2 apex seals at only 52K miles on the engine. It took out my primary turbo(had 162K on it).

With that said, it turns out my oil pump was worn out, the spring that sends the oil pressure to the engine was too short (70 MM instead of 73), some of the gaskets on my engine were missing and yet others had a gasket on top of another gasket. Like when the engine was replaced, they didnt bother removing the other one.

My point is, things happen with this car that are beyond our control and when it does happen it costs a fortune to fix. After my engine blew I posted an ad to sell my car. After about a million responses I realized that I really am attached to my car.

Anyway, good luck with your car. Hope you keep it.

Cool I can't agree more!

We have had an unusually cool spring in the midwest so far. It just makes me smile to drive my car. Every mod I have made from this forum has just resulted in a better driving car than when I bought her as totally stock.

All I need is a little time to fix my secondary boost problem that I did not know I had until I installed a boost gauge. I have all the hoses, gaskets, extra solenoids, etc. to do the nasty vacuum replacement.

If my engine goes (at 65K now) I will definitely have to put her away into mothballs until I can affort a reman. It is kind of hard to spend a lot of money on one car with a family and two other cars. So I am grateful for everyday she keeps running!

gotta love them days when your fd rewards you with a ride that just completes your day, especially them days when the guy in the brand new trans am grilles you and says "want some", then effortlessly you show him whos boss.

I still get the grins when I drive my FD and I've had it for 9 years now.

Hope you keep it Barry. I've wanted to drive mine on the beach in St. Augustine and get some pics but the wife wants to have more room for luggage so we take our Protege instead...bummer.

I felt the same today, especially when you dont drive it for like a day and you just explode with fury in it and feel like a million bucks. It is a feeling i think everyone should know sometime.

Oh, you will, you certainly will.

But I wouldn't trade it for anything else under $100k at this point and I've put my money where my mouth is.

I'm glad to see that everyone has days like I had the other day. We've been having crappy rainy days here lately so when we get a nice day to drive the FD - it's awesome.

Zerobanger, it's cool you were pissed with me since your FD was so reliable - but EVERYONE will come under the nasty wrench of the FD woes sometime in their life - definitely worth it

Artguy, so how's life with your 380+ rwhp sequential FD? I know you moved over to our end of the world and were without your ride for a while - nice having it back, huh? What did you **** on at the street races?

Tim, I've gotten a few bites on the car but at this point, I'm not selling it for anything low - I'll take it to Florida with me in a heartbeat - atleast I have Pettit about 1 hour away like I have KDR here.

I just don't think there is a car out there under $100K that can do ALL the things my FD does. There are many cars out there that can match the acceleration (Viper SRT-10, Z06, etc) but as far as looks, handling, and finesse,a dn instant turbo response - there's nothing like a modded FD
