Something happened to my car tonight
Just 15 minutes ago my "new" FD (only 67k miles, just bought it last week) was running perfectly. PERFECTLY.
So... tonight i was going up a hill and gave it some power (i've done this a few times on the same hill) and all of a sudden it started jerking forward to backward. I obviously let off immediately and go at it slower. It does the same thing around 3000-4000 rpm. I barely made it to the top of the hill to my house.
I let it glide the rest of the way to my house and restart it. EXTREMELY ROUGH IDLE. It is running VERY rich and smells like it.
What happened? THANK YOU
oh and tonight is the first night i had my new hks 120mm exhaust silencer on.
and i just changed the oil to mobil 1 synthetic
please help thanks

If you do not know where something that simple lies, then you need to do a LOT of reading and purchase the green manual. You will shortly find out that without any basic FD knowledge of where things are and what they do, your car won't be on the road long

Definiately sounds like your map sensor hose has popped off. It's like a black plug with a hose attached to it located on the firewall.. almost directly above the oil filter or there abouts...

And yeah, +1 for the MAP sensor hose.
it is because you are using synthetic oil.
Everyone knows that. The non-dinomolecular peptides disassociated from the base stock while you were going up the hill, hence the problem.
Go back to non-synthetic.

Compare your relief to my dismay several years ago when I blew my engine, and I was like, "Okay...maybe it is just the MAP sensor hose..." as I pulled to the side of the road.

THAT is the most sickening feeling.
Glad everything is okay.
And hey, we were ALL 'newbies' once, so don't sweat it.
Actually, the current popular belief is that the type of oil used doesn't matter so much as the frequency with which you change it. Every 1000-1500 miles is the generally accepted rule.
