Someone please help me. I can't figure out what's wrong with my boost.

I have a boost pattern of 8-4-8. Before I did the simplification I was 9-5-9, so I figure a small portion of the problem is boost leak, but I'm not concerned about that right now. When I'm between 3500 and 4000rpm a begin to hear this flapping/sputtering sound that is very noticeable, consistant and rapid. I'm thinking my Pre-control actuator is fucked, but I really don't know. Also, something I noticed when I took off the little charge elbow that goes to the Y-pipe is that the charge control valve would stick closed when I closed it all the way. I adjusted the little screw that is supposed to keep the valve from jamming in the elbow so that it doesn't stick, but if I closed it more than gently then it would stick for 5-15 seconds.

HEEEEEEEEEEEELP!

That fluttering noise could be compressor surge. If your charge control actuator is sticking open (I know you said it sticks closed, but it would normally be closed from 3,000-4,500) Your primary boost could be backing up against the secondary turbo. Are you sure your charge relief actuator is working properly? If not, then that could be causing the secondary boost to push back against the compressor during precontrol.

Alright, I don't think I have a boost leak, because I forgot that the boost is calculated in second gear for automatics and not third like manuals. I did a second gear WOT and got 10-5-and then the rear wheels started getting ahead of themselves so I let off (not bad for an AT FD). It just rained, so the full test will need to wait for a dryer day. What's the best way of determining where my problem is at?

if i am not mistaken, you can check for pressure in the charge hose. it will release if there is. if the soleniod id bad, it would not hold charge....pressure.....

Alright, I just did a second gear WOT. My boost in 2nd gear (remember, this is an AT FD) is officially 10-4-7. Now, before I left for Spring semester my boost was a solid 10-8-10. When I got back it was as it is now. What can cause boost to break like that?
