some opinions please on a motor
Well ive neen on the forums awhile but just reading mostly as the FD i originally was to rebuild ended up with more damage than i thought. So i sought out to find another for a decent price, 2 yrs later i have found one purchased it and am in process of getting it running in STOCK condition for now. I do have plans for it after it is rolling, but untill then heres the story:
blk/blk base w/ clean body minus dent in pasenger side rear quarter panel 130k on the clock. the previouse owner did not sound very mechanically savy. but the story i got is he recieved the car with a blown motor. he ordered a mazda reman but his mechanic friend that was to do the work for him couldnt for whatever reason. so the motor sat for about a year and was finally put in along with a brand new engine harness, vacuum lines, walboro, 6-puck clutch and flywheel. but they were never able to get it running, so a compression test was done and
only 1 face on the rear rotor had compression. the car then sat for about another year.
That being said i have verified all of the above myself minus the clutch and flywheel to be true. videos follow

Now as is i have injected MMO into the chambers and am letting it sit in hopes to 'unstuck' the apex seals. no i did not use ATF as it is a new reman w/ no carbon build up. i will be checking compression again in a few days but by what has been told to me this motor sat for almost 2 years without really being turned over at all so my questions.
Am i shooting for the stars here in tring to get the seals unstuck because the springs are actually flatened?
And does anyone have anyother suggestions to releasing the seals without rebuild?
if i end up needing to restack the motor it will be coming out only to be turned into a HP ***** and while thats being worked ill source a low mile stock replacment to sort out the drivetrain and suspension. always have a spare!
let me know what you think

I would just have somebody open it up and see whats wrong. Chances are it will be something cheap and easy if it has never truely ran. Otherwise you will probably end up screwing something up. You dont want it to start running, then down the road have it go out either. Save yourself some hassles and throw a little cash at it.

little update as most threads have crappy questions then die.
well ripped of the turbos today to see if i could free the apex seals or see if the motor was toast. as stated before this motor was supposedly a mazda reman unable to start. and it looks like it is from the outside and kinda on the inside, looks like someone tried to start it. but look at what iv found.
this is the front turbo i havent looked at the back yet
heres the apex seal on the front rotor
heres one of the faces on the front rotor
so needless to say this engine is toast as it sits. i will be tearing it out the rest of this week hopefully friday and then tear down saturday to see if i can find exactly what went through this engine but i have a pretty good idea already. the next pic can explain alittle
and some people wonder y there **** breaks this couldnt have anything to do with it
but ill be sourcing a short block to get this car back on the road within the next month. and then building this engine up

Yea those turbo's are shot, should be able to pick up a good used set on here for a good price. You knew what you were getting into with this car, I take it. Download the FSM and have a go at it.

+1 You will love the car after you get it finished, remember when I did my motor/turbo swap. After it was complete I am obsessed with my car now, and want it perfect in every aspect.

well so much for a non able to start reman.....i believe this engine was tried to start at one point and detonated on the rear rotor breaking the corners from 2 of the apex seals seen here
other than that the rear looks cherry now the front is toast like a washer or something went through it but i cant tell you decide
ill get better pics of the rotor and apex seals as they are odd breaks in all 3 of themfor the front but the rotor and housing are toast, plates perfect. i have an extra set of rotors laying around so no biggie but ill need to source a good front housing before this motor sees any more service. so in the mean time im getting a rebuilt stock block to enjoy the car while i build a decent HP engine. BP possibly ....hmmm
