BTW......the car is pretty much done. I got it finished but took it back apart to send the upper & lower intake and the turbo to ExtrudeHone. I'm waiting on that stuff to get back and she's ready to rock. Well.....and my primary fuel rail.....then she's ready to rock. I'm looking at maybe another week or so before startup :GASP!: did i say startup? Wow! That's a word that hasn't been used in the same sentence with my RX7. Usually it's more like "trophy piece" ......."garage queen"......."POS".....etc....

Not anymore!!!!!

Car looks really well done so far. From last I remember it hasn't run in quite some time now sitting in a garage for a couple years before you acquired it I believe you saying.

Converting everythign to AN fittings is a really good idea. Did you go far as converting all the vacuum lines to AN fittings as well. I know someone who has and I thought they were absolutely insane when I saw their UIM. Makes me want to do the same thing.

I'm jealous too!!!

ttt: yes i converted EVERYTHING......it was a huge PITA! I love it though......it looks soooooo good when it's all together. I'm just in love with the fact that almost everything under my hood is one off. I either made it or designed it and had it made with me right there helping.

Here's a shot of my intake manifold......what do you guys think of how i mounted my FPR? I think it's pretty damn cool......but then again, i'm kinda partial.

Got a question for you. When you run the wires through the lid to the second fuel pump, how did you seal it? The gas tank is supposed to be completely sealed but if you drill a hole on the lid to run the wires through, it won't be anymore. I had the similar setup with twin fuel pumps and I use the stock wires to power them both and then I only get 20 psi of fule pressure at idle. So I took them out and running on only one now. Maybe it does not have enough current from the stock wire to power two at the same time but I can't figure out how to run wires through the lid and the tank is still sealed. Any suggestion??

well, I would think you could drill the hole, install a rubber grommet to protect the wires, install the wires and get them set to the right lengths, and then just seal in with a good silicone on the outside. Gas tank is under pressure, but not extreme pressure.

Could be wrong though...

I don't think silicon is fuel proof. I am thiking about using the JB weld but I really need a professinal solution to it. Maybe I will just get another lid, cut the portion of stock connector out of that lid and weld it onto my old lid. Hopefully a new lid is not going to cost hundreds of dollars at the Mazda dealer like all the other 3rd gen stock parts.

did you change the direction of flow on the fuel rails? i was just thinking it might be a little tight in there for the ss lines to fit. i havent looked at where the secondary fuel rail sits lately, but i would be afraid of it being cramped. im probably wrong though as you seem to be EXTREMELY thorough. haha.

i love your setup. . . and thanks for posting the pics of the fuel pump. now i know how to set my lines up. . . sweet. haha.

thanks,
paul

The ride is looking SWEET! I'm partial to silver, after all.

Question about the dual Walbros...working on a REDUNDANT Walbro setup (where both Y into a single AN-08 supply line and return lines) but I was informed that with the small size of the Walbros, and the lack of excess metal around them, that they run HOT. The gas from the tank actually cools them. Putting rubber around them would insulate them a little too much, perhaps? I hear that the Bosch and the Aeromotive have more metal (heat sink) and can be run in or out of the tank.

Do you run each line to each fuel rail, then join up at the regulator? What happens if a pump fails? I've never seen a Walbro, or even a stock pump fail. I've seen the Supra pump drop pressure up top though (Nocab's). Just wondering if anyone has any insight.

Tony

I bet you could look that up on the 'net.

Stands for ARMY NAVY. It's a INNER DIAMETER fitting size standard.

I don't think the silicone is fuel proof either...but if you make the clearances really tight...get a grommet that fits the wires very tight, then drill a hole juuuuuuust big enough for the grommet to fit. Then goop up the outside of the lid. I could be wrong, but I dont think the fuel goes all the way up to the tip top of the tank when full. So if it's not going to the top, and the grommet and wires are really really tight...I dont see how much fuel could get to the silicone.

But your right, that's not a very professional solution.

It does.....that is the 88mm. It's much bigger than it looks! It's basically the same size as my Greddy T88 except for the wheel and the exhaust (i'm talking just in visual size that is).
