Solved primary boost issue

After installing BNRs and all new solenoids, I was having trouble making primary boost. It would ramp up to 5psi, then barely creep up to 8 psi by 4500rpms. After the transition, everything was good; the car could make any boost that I set quickly. After checking everything 10 times (wiring, solenoid tests, actuator tests, pressure tests, etc.), I honed in on it.

I was missing the pill in the precontrol actuator line. My turbos were originally 99 specs that had the restriction built into the comp housing nipples. The BNRs used 93 spec comp housings with no restriction. I have a boost controller, so the wg pill missing wasn't an issue.

Since the turbos were transitioning more or less fine, I assumed there was no issue with the precontrol actuator. In the end it was opening too early and affecting my primary boost.

I put an oem line / pill in last night and the car boosts perfect.

The reason I'm posting this is because a lot of the trouble shooting sites that we all use don't mention this as something to check when having primary boost issues.

Awesome! That's a good find!

The N3C1 turbos also have the pills in the nipples on the compressor housing, FYI.
