Solid Sunroof mounting

I have removed my sunroof mechanism and now I want to solid mount the metal sunroof piece. Does anyone know a successful way of doing this?

welding?

Or buy a roof skin and convert it to a non-sunroof car.

why did you remove it? I would have just unplugged the mechanism and left it in the closed position.

maybe you could weld metal bars half on the sunroof panel and half of the roof of the car? keeping the panel in place. and if you wanted to you could fill the gap btwn the panel and roof with some bondo or something to give the appearance of a solid roof.
I duno what you would do about the headliner. or if a non sunroof headliner would fit in a modified roof like the idea i suggested.

I'm not really concerned with the appearance of a solid roof, If it looks like there is the outline of a black square on my roof I'll live. I took the whole sun roof assembly off to reduce weight, I'm stripping the car, but I don't really want to have a big whole in the roof.

I was thinking of bending up the tabs on the side of the sun roof opening and welding it to the tabs. Has anyone tried this?

My car is a sunroof car that has been welded up. If you look at the top of the car, there is no evidence that it is. Once you get inside of the car, you see the metal panel.

Did you re use the stock panel, or use new metal that was welded in? I had to remove my mechanism to gain head room on my track car, and am debating on what I should do. Was thinking of just making some ridgid aluminum brackets and bolting them to some studs that are on the inside of the roof of the car but if theres an easy enough way to weld something in I would be more apt to do that.
