Wow...that's some quality work...did he do it himself? It has a very clean appearance, espescially the FMIC/Radiator/Fan combo...

Yeah I think he did most of the work himself.
I was tripping on that coke can too, but I forgot to ask.

Hey - I just got it running less than 2 weeks ago. It is very Ghetto right now. I have a few more things to make. No time. I have done just about everything myself with the acception of some welding and tuning. Jeff and Allen at Rotary Power spent about 3 hours on it to fire it up. ( The tuning ). It had been apart for about 2 years and I had forgotten where some plugs went. I also needed someone who was capable to look it over before it was fired. They built the motor. They were also very cool to look over my shoulder 2 other times.

Had a crack in my trans. I fixed it. I also put new primary injectors / pulsation dampener. ( My originals were checked by RC Engineering.( They were stile fcked up. ) Jeff and Allen looked over my shoulder and were very cool to let me do the work in there shop. I owe them. If they want their floor swept no prob. Like I said I owe them.

The Coke can was a quick fix for the crank case breather.( my idea ) I didn't see why I should spend $80.00 for a nice one when I can make a better one for about $20.00 in aluminum with a K&N type filter. Unfortunately everything takes time. The Radiator cost me $287.00 and it is bigger than anything that you can buy off the shelf that will fit in the car. The intercooler Apex'i GTR core cost me $210.00. I did the end tanks and plumbing myself and had my friend weld it. Mandrel Bent tubes were from Burns. Expensive but very nice. I tried to bend some myself but wasn't very successful. Air-conditioning condenser is in between the Intercooler and radiator. Everything is completely ducked with aluminum. Temp never goes above 85c unless I am stopped in traffic. ( That is the temp for my Thermostat. ) I am making plugs for carbon fiber ducts for my oil and intercooler now. The original plugs, I made for the oil cooler, I had to break to get my pieces out. I FCKKED up but hey it is only time. So it will get done in time if I don't put it in a wall first. My friends nicknamed me crash for a good reason. Oh by the way I have a dyno date with XS on the 14TH. Wish me luck. Maybe it go BOOM.

Wow...nice cars...That hood on the silver RX-7 looks quite nice...and I'm not usually a big fan of the two-tone look.

80-CU.IN.T: Your car looks really good. I like that you weren't afraid to make your own intercooler, purchase a aluminum radiator that I take was a universal peice, and do a little fabrication work. Very nice. Car looks really badass in that pic taken from the front. BTW, what oil coolers are those? Custom?

Fuel system is stock with the exception of 1300cc secondary injectors. I only want 415 - 425 RWHP. The car will weigh in around 2900lbs with me in it. ( 2900 / 415 = 7lbs per HP ) This is ok for a street car. I should be able to keep up with traffic. I didn't want a big turbo just something with a wide power band. The turbo is a RX6. I ported the exhaust turbine housing and had it extrude honed. The stock fuel system should be adequate with the 1300cc secondary injectors.

I have tried to see what I could break on the car and I am impressed with this Mazda. I did some 360s on the freeway, shot it over some speed bumps and drove it over an 3" island on the freeway nothing broke or bent except 1 of my Crooked Willow oil cooler mounts from stress. I now have a .30 steel one. ( Oh and the coke can held up just fine too. ) This car will be an ongoing project / hopefully a daily driver after some more testing for reliability.

The oil coolers are Crooked Willow. Nice thought out kit but expensive. I was in a hurry 1 year ago to get the car running so I bought the kit to save time. I then came across some financial difficulties. Lost Job, moved, etc. Then started my own business which sucked up all my funds. Stile is. No profit yet. Soon I hope.
