Sold my auto fd for $14,900
Many of you thought I would get between $11k-$12k for my 93' automatic touring - stock, with 57k miles on it. Well, my patience paid off. I just took a check for $14,900 last night.

I sold it because with 2 little kids now I never get to drive it. The last 3 years I put on an average of 3k miles a year. I'm going to be buying a new G-35 sedan shortly. I hated like hell to sell it but it made little sense to keep a car just to look at it in my garage.

Was his an automatic? Most people on this Forum felt that the automatic would bring my sale price from the 15-16k range to the 11-12k range. You just need to find the right person with the right need. The guy I sold mine to had bought an auto FD 2 months earlier from a dealer in TX. He had it shipped to him in NH and a few weeks ago he totalled it. He was looking to replace it ASAP. My luck.

Glad you were able to get the price you wanted. Prices are all over the place on these cars. I hope that check was a cashiers check. I would NEVER accept a personal check for a vehicle sale unless it was a very close friend. If it is a personal check, it's probably good, but you are taking a big risk.

Lesson learned here is don't sell your FD on the forum cause there is nothing but low balllers. Somewhere out there there is someone willing to pay what you ask with in some reason. Good job and you did the right thing.

You can't even trust a cashiers check either. Always be sure to call the bank that wrote the cashiers check to make sure it is valid. There is so much fraud out there today, you can never be sure. For Example I work for a car dealership in St. Louis, MO and this happened to us............true story..
A local individual "sold" his 1997 M3 and took a bad cashiers check.
Waited 3 months to try to cash this bad check, during this 3 months..........
The car was sold in Iowa and issued a new clean title.
The car was traded in and sent to the local Auto Auction where we bought it with a good title.
We sold the car, good title and all.
Our customer REGISTERED the car in MO, and was issued a new title.
When the original seller finally tried to cash his $28k cashiers check and found out it was bad, he reported the car stolen. Therefore the customer we sold the car too had to give it back.
NEVER TRUST ANYONE!!!!
