So Spec is a piece of crap. What clutch should I get now?

The pressure plate on my Spec clutch completely collapsed and broke the center section. From what it looks like it fucked up the throw out bearing too. Im not sure what condition my actual clutch is in (just got a compressor and im getting the fittings for the lines tomorrow so i can take the ppf off and drop the tranny). Im not gonna go in depth on why or how it happened (I want to wait till I can get it off and take pics) and I'll create a whole new thread for that. Right now Im more worried about what course of action I should take. Im only making about 300whp right now, but Im trying to build a T78 kit with my own manifold/downpipe. Of course, it would go faster if I didnt have setbacks like this.

So, should I just get a whole new clutch kit and get that Spec garbage out of there or should I try to buy a different pressure plate for it and throw out bearing and keep the already used clutch? Take into consideration I'll have a T78 on it within a year and I'll rebuild and port the spare motor I have and throw it in there with the T78. Im aiming for around 450whp.

SPEC will stand by it's product

I have a SPEC stage II in my 94 and it runs 8.6's all day long in the 1/8 mile with M/T drag radials. I drop the clutch on the car between 5 and 6 grand and I have had ZERO issues with my SPEC. It's been in the car for about THREE years with no issues. I also have a stage III in my 89 Mustang and it sees its share of track duty, with 4 to 5 grand drops on drag radials and nitrous. Car runs 7.5's all day long with no clutch issues. I tried a Center force, Ram and nothing would hold up in the car, but a SPEC. I just had the engine in the Mustang rebuilt and sent the clutch back to SPEC to have the aluminum plate in the flywheel replaced, disk pads replaced and steel in the pressure plate replaced with aluminum. The guys there were more then helpful and I'm sure if you sent it back they would be willing to take care of any issues with the clutch besides obvious abuse. I have met this guy in person and he used to own a 93 that he raced, so he knows a little about the clutchs in the RX-7.

Never launched it. Never tracked it. And I didnt try to slip it either. Ive never done anything that would cause it to fail, yet while driving normaly a simple shift from 2nd to 3rd did it in. I put 12k miles on it and that did it in. The actual surface material on the clutch looks great too. The pressure plate just didnt wanna last. Its a Spec stage III (4 puck sprung)
