if you cant SEE that reason why then you dont deserve an FD anyway.

At least when you move to the RX8club forum you'll be allowed to post thonged asses

Just keep them both. That way, you have a DD and a fun car.

I'll be honest, I've contemplated selling my FD too. Not because I've found something better, but because I bought a house this summer and it's costing a lot more than expected.

It sounds corny, but it really would kill me to walk out to my garage and not see my FD there. I WANNA KEEP MY FD!!

KEEP YOUR FD!!! If you get rid of it, you will realize it was the wrong decision, you will miss it and want it back! I don't get no rattles or such, but the only thing I hate about the FD is getting out of it - I don't want to get out of my FD lol... I love it to pieces!!!

The FD is a legend. The RX-8... well it lives in the shadow of that legend. Can you imagine talking to someone who starts off, "Hey, that's a sweet car. RX-8 right? Those are pretty nice, I almost bought one. But have you ever seen one of the old RX-7's? Those cars were crazy! I'd love to find one of those somewhere." And then you'll have to nod in agreement, mentioning something about having owned one in the past.

That's not a future I would look forward to.

well talking form expirinece. I sold my FD to get an RX-8. BIGGEST mistake EVER. The RX-8 was nice at first but while time pass, I started missing the feeling the FD gave me. I was also starting to hate the lack of power. I just sold my RX-8 and got me a BMW but I'm in the market for a FD at the moment. I'm taking my time since I'm in no hurry, want to buy that very special one (CYM to be a little specific) and see where I get transfer next summer.

I have both also and would sell my FD WAY before my 8, no brainer. Two years plus of driving the 8 now and I love that ******* car. It tops the FD is pretty much every aspect except power.

Fact of the matter is the 8 is fast enough and the handling is un-*******-real, better than the FD due to the fact its new and is VERY easy to push at the limits with little fear.

99% on this board will tell you to dump the 8 but they havent had the seat time to appreciate the 8.

If you tired of hoping the fd starts and runs well, constantly looking at gauges, dreading the work time when something breaks and all the other ****, then sell the fd if not keep both.

My vote is keep both and enjoy each car for what they are.

I see about 10 RX-8 every single day, and honestly the only FD i see is my own. I may see one randomly crusing on the freeway but for every 1000 RX-8 i get only 1 FD. Think about it. What do you think when you see a Ferrari? Damn that guy is hella lulcky! Well people who see you in the FD think "damn that guy is so damn lucky" you stand out like a Ferrari or any other super car because the FD in its own way is a super car.

I also recently bought an rx8 and love the car. I really do not want to sell my FD but if I had to choose, I would get rid of the FD. I agree with buzzardcluck on how much fun the 8 is to drive.

I have a one car garage and my Rx7 was always in the garage. After driving the 8 for a while I decided to switch spots, the 8 is now in the garage lol.

Try to keep them both, you will have the best of both worlds. It's nice to jump in a nice quiet rotary with heated seats etc and have a warranty but the best 9for me) is a nice Sunday drive with the wife and kids in a sports car.

I'm keeping both.

People don't say that because Ferrari's are rare. They say that because 80+% of the world's population will NEVER be able to afford one. The FD is an older higher maintenance car. Not everyone is wanting or willing to put up with it. Nothing wrong with that which is why there are so many different cars available so something can fit everyone's needs.

If you want a rare car, why not get a Yugo? Not many of those on the road here in the US.

IF you have a well running FD that is just nothing but fun and is not nickle and diming you to death, that is the best feeling of all. The RX-8 is a kick-*** car, no doubt about it and is indeed a tremendously agile car.
Problem I have, is there are already 10 times the number of RX-8s on the road as what was ever built for FDs. So when drive an RX-8, you are just 'one of the crowd'. But that alone isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some of this discussion goes all the way back to the question of why you buy ANY car. Is it styling? Performance? Practicality? Affordability?
THOSE are the questions that you have to factor in when deciding to buy OR sell a car.

Those of us with near-perfect FDs would likely never contemplate selling. On the other hand, anyone who has been fighting their car and/or spending tons of money and maybe it is basically a POS dented up OLD CAR.....yeah, it would be easier to let it go.

When I bought my FD it was because I always wanted one... back in my senior year of high school, yeah lol 1992, they were new in the mags and car and driver was going nuts over it... I wanted one so bad! Well last year, I sold my BMW 330i (which I loved!) and bought my FD.

The plan was for it to be a DD initially until I sold some of my properties and could afford to do it the way I wanted to. Well that time has arrived and when my Fd is completed (if there ever is such a thing) it will come out as a weekend driver/show car. i am buying another DD, likely a truck and plan on keeping my Fd very long-term, not saying till death but it's likely. I want to share this car with my kids (whenever they come) and enjoy this car for the rest of my life.

To all those who share the love and passion for this car, cheers!

I'd add handling to that. I've driven RX-8's and I own an FD, and I'd admit that I probably like the 8's steering feel better. But all the road tests show the FD's pulling higher .g's in the corners. And those stats for the FD were acquired using '90's tires. Put some modern rubber on the FD and you're sure to get even higher numbers. And if you're talking about an R model FD you're at even a higher level with some being recorded at .99 g.

"Handling" is never just one number, and there's a subjective element to it. But in any test that can be measured objectively I'd think you'd see the FD coming up with better numbers stock to stock.

DUde i drove an rx8 and...it is nothing close to an rx7. It would be a nice dd, but pound for pound...the rx7 would always beat its ***. I know the thing can handle cause i test drove it, but alot of cars can just handle. We drive rx7s because they are rx7s...there ******* THE ****! everytime someone sees my fd...they go crazy over it. If you sell the 7 i promise you, your going to have nightmares of geting smoked by one in your local canyon....

I did qualify my handling statement .

The 8s stock suspension starts to show that its more comfort minded when you start taking corners at 90+, the 8 has bodyroll that my FD does not. To feel really "planted" during a 100+ mph turn my 8s suspension would need some improvement.

The 8 just inspires confidence where the FD does not, thats my point. From the new parts to the fantastic DSC/TCS it just handles very well.

If you track your car, the 8 doesnt compare well to the FD but it wasnt designed to do so.

If we are talking DD with minor track use the 8 is better.

Daily driving a semi-race setup FD to just look cool is stupid and better left to younger guys that feel the need to prove something, IMO.

Also my FD isnt a beat up POS as someone eluded to in an earlier post.

Flame all you want but my position isnt going to change.

ok ur a moron if u sell the fd.. keep it as a weekend car or something i bet 100% ull regret it.. my uncle had an rx8 and sold it but before that i drove it normal and wot.. nice smooth ride but no power compared to the fd(of course) but just keep them both and see how time goes by and then see if u would rather sell the fd or 8

Same situation for me. I agree 100%!!!

And as far as driving the car to look cool that's not it at all for me! Granted I am what some of you guys would consider "young", but it's all about the pleasure of driving an FD! Sure it's a rare car in most places and gets alot of attention and recognition. Half the people I meet don't even know what kinda car it is! But nothing brings me more joy at this point in life than driving my car. Just cuz we build em up doesn't mean we do it to go out and showboat. I only race the big dogs that I hope will beat me! That makes it fun =)

Some guy at HIN Seattle last weekend tried to get me to fill out a form to win an RX8 and I turned him down. He said "But it's fully loaded and brand new!" I replied "Wow. That's excatly what the salesman at the dealership said!" Not to mention I was asked to drive the RX8 "for fun" because I pulled up in my FD to look at a BMW, and then they tried to sell it to me when all I did was talk about how crappy it was compared to my FD.... Idiot salesmen and dealership owner!!!

ok guys you all have great points.

i completly agree with the fact the 8 a great DD. it handles awsome and is great in every way.

but, it has no power compared to the FD. when i drop a gear in the fd i know i'm going to move and move ******* fast, in addition to the badass full exhuast rotary sound

so my decision is that since my fd is 100% paid for....im going to keep it. even if i hardly drive it i can still say i have one and get that high when i need it. as i pulled up to parking space after work today and seen the fd sitting there...i was like damn i love that car. i love my cars.
