smokimg from maifold/turbo area?

I just finished installing my 99 spec turbos on my 93 FD, I started her up and she seems to idle fine but as she warmed up it began to smoke ( not really heavily but still quite a bit) from the turbo / exhaust maniflf area.

I did have to bend the manipulate the heat shield a bit when I put the turbos on, and I have spilt a little oil and cooland down there along with the dust that has gathered since she's been off the road.

I had a "sniff " and it sorta smells like burning metal? its not stong or anything .

has anyone lse had this after replacing turbos?

normally i would say a bit of oil burning, as my return line from the turb to the sump leaks a little and it smokes a little,

What color smoke? It could just be the coolant evaporating.

after installing so many turbos, i agree with impact. Could just be coolant evaporating off the manifold and surrounding areas, or if you replaced the exhaust gaskets, they too will cause smoke the first time it is fired up. Be sure that the gaskets for the oil return tubes are on correctly and not cocked; i have done that before and caused a large oil leak and smoking.

ok, I ran her this morning for about 15-20mins and the smoking has dissappeared yay1

I took her for a run and I found she was missing badly whenever I tried to hit boost.
I have also installed an aftermarket FPR so I ran through the process of adjusting it up to 40psi ( with vacume hose off and then re-attached it ) but I still found she bucked and missed when trying to hit boost.
So I just reset the ECU and took her for a drive and ( apart from a slight miss the first time ) she seems to be boosting up fine now.
The thing is I looked under the bay after I got back and it looks as though there is oil being blown out my manual boost controller valve!?.

Why would ol get blown out my boost contoller valve into the bay?

Also I have noticed when I raised my Fuel pressure to 40psi my idle has now gone up to 1500rpm and stays there. I have fully adjusted the screw on top of the throttle body right out so it aint that.

Note: I have done the TB coolant bypass and also wired open the fast idle cam ( as per Rob Robinette site) .could this be affecting the idle? The fast idle warmup was already removed.

cheers
Kris
