Slow shift 4th gear -- wtf?
What the hell is wrong with my 4th gear? After taking my FD to the track about a month ago, I walked away with a disappointing 14.2 @ 98.6.
Kindof off topic, but with my performance-affecting mods being a custom intake, exhaust, and downpipe by the RX-7.com guys, does that seems slow or right on par to you guys? I WAS granny-shifting because of this problem I have with 4th gear, however...
When I'm going into 4th, some sort of locking mechanism won't let me pull straight down into gear. It's like a little door is blocking me and then quickly sidesteps itself after about half of a second. I've tried pulling hard and quick only to hear some sort of grind/bang noise, but it doesn't create the same feeling as grinding gears normally would on the shifter. I've only tried this a couple times and am obviously scared to continue.
What the hell is this? That one slow shift into 4th DESTROYS me while street racing cars that shouldn't normally keep up.

I have a similar problem, only upshifting from 1st to 2nd grinds a little bit, and 4th to 5th can sometimes be tough, but *down*shifting from 5th to 4th can sometimes be impossible. I either have to double (or triple) clutch it to get in, or go back into 5th and try for 4th again (which, needless to say can f*ck up the tempo of slowing down).
I plan on getting my FD in for a look by a mechanic, and hopefully a full tranny rebuild. I have an aftermarket warranty, so I want to get the most out of it.
