Sloppy shifter freeplay?

This is not a BIG deal or anything but quite annoying. When I first got my FD, when ever I shift gears, everything felt nice and tight, but latley it seems like the shifter is starting to have a lot more free play. It drives ok but I hate the loose feeling, it also makes it easier to miss a gear. Is this possible to fix without having to drop the tranny?
